Richard Berube Launches Campaign to Clean up Dutchess County DA’s Office

Poughkeepsie, NY – Richard Berube, a former Dutchess County Senior Assistant District Attorney, kicked off his campaign for Dutchess County’s top lawyer spot by launching his website,

“We have a District Attorney who has not been challenged in 20 years. Cases drag on and justice delayed is justice denied,” said Berube. “Our DA’s office should get involved early with cases, understand each case, so people aren’t needlessly incarcerated. We need a District Attorney who is engaged and actually appears in court.”
Berube is a native of Dutchess County and a Marine. After an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, he put himself through law school. “I wanted to continue serving in some capacity after I left the military,” said Berube. As District Attorney, he intends to fight for the values he fought for as a Marine.

After serving as Senior Assistant DA, Berube went into private practice, working for firms like Sayegh, Cervone, MacKay; Berube and Lynch; Serino MacKay and Berube; and MacKay & Berube.

“Having served in the DA’s office and then in private practice, I have a unique perspective of justice. My experience on both sides taught me the importance of fairness while seeking justice,” Berube said.
